Welcome to St. Paul’s National Major Seminary-Kinyamasika, situated in the central Division of Fort Portal City, Diocese of Fort Portal in Western Uganda. It is a National Theologicum founded in 1992 by the Uganda Episcopal Conference to foster the call to the Holy Priesthood of Christ, in response to the increasing number of young men wishing to join the seminary. The seminary runs a four-year program of Theological Studies and Priestly formation, with candidates coming from all the nineteen dioceses of Uganda. The average annual population of the seminarians is between 200 and 2020 students. The seminary is located on coordinates 0?37’47”N 30°17’05”E.
The formation aspects include the following in which our students fully engage themselves both internally and externally:
Spiritual Formation: Daily prayers and Masses, Retreats, adoration, spiritual talks, spiritual direction, private devotions, and silent times for meditation in the adoration chapel are strong pillars in this area of formation.
Academic Formation: this includes teaching of theological subjects in line with the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church, public seminars, discussions, research and examinations.
Pastoral Formation: Engagement in external pastoral work in schools and communities surrounding the seminary.
Human Formation: Sports, drama, community service in gardens, open forum discussions on secular issues, debates, exposure to the world through the media and interaction with people outside the seminaries.
The formation is holistic so that we can send out a mature priest of the Roman Catholic Church with the required knowledge to address the world in its current state according to the will of Christ the sender. Matthew 28:20

The presence of a new dormitory is most welcome at this time when the population of the Seminary is constantly increasing as a result of many young people joining theology after their pastoral spiritual year. Already the population has been in the range of 200 seminarians and there was not enough room to properly accommodate new students beyond that capacity in place of residence. The Seminary is very grateful to Missio Austria who funded the construction of this new dormitory that was commissioned in March 2023 that can accommodate at least 24 Seminarians and a Staff Member. We are always grateful to people who from their generosity contribute to the formation of future priests.
