AFFILIATIONS AT KINYAMASIKA

I. Urban Degree in Theological Studies

St. Paul’s National Seminary is affiliated to the Pontifical Urban University- Rome. At its inception in 1992, arrangements were made to give students an opportunity of obtaining this Degree. Students by then got this Degree by registering under Ggaba National Seminary because by then our seminary had not yet been affiliated to the Pontifical University. However, since 2007 St. Paul’s National Major Seminary got its own affiliation to the Pontifical University, Rome.

All students who score an average of 60% in their exams at the end of theology III qualify to register for this Degree.

 

II. Main Theological and Religious Studies, Makerere

The MA (Religious and Theological Studies) program is based on the felt need for the development of research capability of students who study theology and religious studies in Uganda.

Religious touches matters of ultimate concern in our daily lives and our future. The Ugandan society, however, is experiencing certain changes in education, social development and communication. The pastor will therefore have to play a relevant role in such a society.

He will also need skills of research and ecumenism so as to alleviate situations of division, poverty and ignorance.

 

AWARDS

I. Diploma in Theological and Pastoral Studies (Kinyamasika)

The seminary awards a diploma in theological and pastoral studies to candidates who successfully complete their studies. A student is considered successful if he scores a minimum average of 60% in all the four years’ examinations. Any student, who falls short of this average, is presented with a certificate of attendance after the 4 years. However, the ordination to diaconate of any candidate who has failed to meet the diploma requirements is left upon his Bishop to decide.

 

II. Bachelor’s Degree in Theology (Urban University - Rome)

St. Paul’s national major seminary is affiliated to Urbaniana Pontifical University-Rome. Though it was first registered under Ggaba Seminary, in 2007 St. Paul’s Seminary got directly affiliated to the Urbaniana Pontifical University. Due to this affiliation, the school offers an opportunity for students to receive a B.A in theology after fulfilling the academic requirements of the entire 4 years. All students who score an average of 60% by the end of theology III are elegible candidates to register for this award.

 

III. Master’s Degree in Theological and Religious Studies (MARTS) (MUK)

The seminary is also affiliated to Makerere University, Uganda. With this affiliation, the seminary offers a M.A degree in Religious and Pastoral studies to its students. This program is intended to equip the pastor skills required to offer a relevant role in the society which is so dynamic in terms of: education, social development and communication. This course enables the priest candidate to acquire skills of research and ecumenism so as to offer a way out on some situations of divisions, poverty and ignorance.

Students who qualify for this programme are those who have successfully completed at least a B.A in Philosophy in addition to the U.C.E and U.A.C.E.
