MUSIC DANCE AND DRAMA CLUB

Brief Background

Kinyamasika music, dance and drama club is one of the vibrant clubs in this seminary. History has it that it enthusiastically started in the early years of the seminary but due to unavoidable circumstances, it went into ‘hibernation’ for some time until September 2008. Through this club, the future ministers of God are helped to discover their talents and abilities.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF MUSIC DANCE AND DRAMA

  • The main objective of this club is to entertain and evangelize the people of God through music, dance, and drama. For instance, many of the members are poets, musicians and good dancers of church and gospel music but above all, good actors. As regards the aims of the club, there is diversity; they include the following among others:
  • To develop talents of individual members especially in music (singing) and plays (shows)
  • To foster unity, cooperation, and brotherhood among the members, and to the neighboring parishes, secondary and primary schools, minor seminary and other tertiary institutions.
  • To present and address issues deeply engraved in the community through drama
  • It is also for socialization purposes and a mode of reducing stress
  • To improve the spoken English; in a way, the official language of the country and the seminary, in particular, is catered for.
  • It is a moment for education for both the seminary community and the institutions outside the seminary.
  • It also aims at developing the rhetoric skills of the member and a way to improve public speaking on the part of the seminarians since they are to become priests-primary public speakers.

LEADERSHIP AND MEMBERSHIP

Although initially, the club was not popular with a low membership, it was on 9th September 2008 that an executive which brought life to it was chosen under the leadership of students: Dn. Lutaaya Simon (Masaka), Mukoza Dominic (Jinja), Maniraguha Adrian (Hoima), Mwase Anthony (Jinja), Nomugisha Januario (Kabale), and Mapeera Simon (Fort Portal). To all the other members of the community, doors of entry to the club remain open.
