FRENCH CLUB

Brief Background

This club was started at St Paul’s Kinyamasika in 1997. The seminary staff together with the students had a strong liking for the languages.

The French Club in St Paul’s Kinyamasika do the following activities:

  • Conduct French lessons.
  • Encourage the speaking of the French language by engaging others in conversation.
  • Reading of French literature like textbooks and Magazines.
  • Listening to French audio CDs and also watching French videos to perfect the language.
  • Organize and celebrate Mass in the French language at least once a semester.
  • Presenting French skits and songs to the community gatherings like the Music and Talent shows that we annually have.
  • Visiting and promoting the French language in the surrounding schools and institutions especially those offering it as an academic discipline.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE FRENCH CLUB

  1. To enable members to learn, read, understand and speak the Language.
  2. To enable members to perfect their ability to read and write the French language.
  3. To enable members of this club to have the capacity to stage French plays effectively.
  4. To establish contact and working relationship with Alliance Francoise.
  5. To enable members to appreciate French as a foreign language.

LEADERSHIP

The French Club is run by a team of students guided by the chaplain. It has a president, vice-president, secretary and the chaplain. Membership is open to all seminarians and staff members of St Paul’s National Major Seminary Kinyamasika. Enrolment of new members is at the beginning of every semester. Members are obliged to abide by the club constitution and the by-laws
