KINYAMASIKA -LIBRARY

There is an academic staff member who coordinates the library services in collaboration with the Head Librarian. The full-time Head Librarian is responsible for all the books and other materials in the Library. S/He manages the overall running of the library, records periodicals as they arrive, accessions books into the computer catalogue, puts books and materials on reserve as requested by  professors, organizes the shelves, etc. in consultation with the Rector, s/he procures academic literature requested by the academic staff.

The Head Librarian

The head Librarian supervises and has regular meetings with students Librarians Four (4) from each class who rotate duty at the Librarian’s desk during evening hours.

The head librarian directs the cleaning of the entire library building and the dusting of books, the re-shelving of books that have been used and/or borrowed, the organizing of periodicals on their respective shelves etc.

The head librarian assists the academic staff and the students in locating the necessary materials in the library, which is arranged according to the Dewey Decimal System.

The head librarian organizes a familiarization tour of the library for Year One students at the beginning of every academic year and reminds the rest of the Students’ Body of the rules for the Library.

We usually have a book display weekend every first semester of the academic year. The Paulines (Daughters of St. Paul from Kampala) do this book display whereby both staff and students buy books conveniently.
